How to Prepare for an Audit

Aug 23, 2024

Our Regional Auditor, George Waters, is here to help you make your next audit a breeze. An audit doesn’t have to be stressful or time-consuming. In this video, I’ll walk you through three simple steps to ensure a smooth audit process.

Step 1: Review Our Letter and List

When you receive our letter, don’t panic! It’s not the IRS. Take a deep breath and review the instructions and list of documents we need. If you have any questions, reach out to us within two weeks. We’re here to help and resolve any issues to keep your anxiety levels low.

Step 2: Gather Your Documents

Now, it’s time to get organized. Collect all necessary documents, review reconciliations, and identify aged deposits in transit. Ensure you have supporting documentation for any resolved issues. If you use a third-party bookkeeper, communicate with them about any discrepancies.

Step 3: Be Efficient

Efficiency is key. An organized audit can take as little as half a day to a full day. If things are not in order, it might extend to two days, keeping you away from your business. Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with you to streamline the process and keep you profitable.

We want your audit to go smoothly. Regulatory standards may require us to report issues promptly, but we’re here to help you clean things up and move forward efficiently. Remember, a smooth audit benefits both of us. Let’s work together to make it happen! If you found this video helpful, please share it with your colleagues. Together, we can make audits less stressful for everyone!
